Pure Katam Powder – Phitofilos

Phitofilos ‘ Katam powder is ideal for achieving cool, dark shades, but unlikeBlack Henna, which offers blue highlights, Katam instead helps achieve more purplish hues. It is therefore very useful for achieving cool, dark shades of brown, combined with the Walnut Hull Blend, for example, or useful for composing mahogany shades, combined with red, for example. Katam powder is extracted from Buxus Dioica, a shrub belonging to the Buxaceae family.

Classic application base of pure powder: chestnut, dark brown, brown (40-120 minutes). On light brown backgrounds, with no or very few whites, it brings the shade to dark, cool tones. In the presence of white hair (above about 10 percent, especially if located in a single area), a double pass of coverage and reflection is recommended: Henna Red No. 2 or No. 3 (10-40 minutes); rinse and then lay Katam (40-120 minutes). The result obtained will be fully visible a few hours after drying.

How to use

In a bowl and using a spoon, preferably not a metal one, mix the necessary amount of Katam (for medium thick, shoulder-length hair, 100 g of powder should suffice) with warm water until the batter is not too thick.
For 100 g of powder, about 300/340 ml of water or (optional) black tea will be sufficient. Let the batter rest for 1-2 hours, stirring it occasionally.
Apply to lightly cleansed and barely damp hair. Wrap with food wrap or foil and leave on between 40 and 120 minutes, depending on the desired result and the starting base. After the allotted time, rinse and proceed with normal drying.

For white hair coverage usually average laying times should be kept above 60 minutes, up to a maximum of h 2:30/3:00. Beyond that, the pose starts to be a disturbing factor for the scalp and neck.
