Description

Phitofilos Hibiscus Powder is a pure powder of dried and pulverized Hibiscus flowers. This natural dye allows for purple hues. This flower, whose Ayurvedic name is Jaswand, is traditionally used for cosmetic treatments to prevent hair loss and to keep hair soft and detangled, strong and shiny. Hibiscus (Hibiscus Sabdariffa) is also used for its excellent dyeing capabilities. The active ingredients that characterize this natural dye are: organic acids (hibiscic acid, citric acid, oxalic acid, tartaric acid, malic acid), anthocyanins, ascorbic acid, tannins, mucilages, phytosterols and pigments (which give this powder its characteristic deep red/purple color).

Hibiscus powder alone has little hold on white hair, giving only light violet highlights and transparency. It is usually used in synergy with other stronger and more opaque dyeing herbs, leaning on which it takes strength to offer its reflections. In fact, Hibiscus is mostly used in mixtures with lawsonia (red henna), indigofera (black henna), often with the addition of madder or camping or walnut husk or alkanna to achieve variegated shades from pink, to deep red, to coppery brown, plum or eggplant. All depending on the starting color, the powders used and the percentage of white hair present.

How to use

It is used by diluting the powder (depending on the length of the hair) with hot water until a not-too-dense batter is obtained-a semolina of the consistency such that it does not run. About 200-240 ml* of water is usually needed for 100 g of powder. Apply to slightly damp hair. Protect hands with gloves and hairline with a coat of oil or cream.

Once the batter has been spread all over the hair, leave on for between 40 and 90 minutes, depending on the desired result and the starting base. After the allotted time, rinse thoroughly. First with warm water and then possibly make a light shampooing pass until the water is no longer colored residue. Proceed with normal drying.

*The amount of water should always be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and changes according to outdoor temperature, product batch, and time between preparation and application. We recommend the use of the Crayon Gel (35ml).
